Spider Math

I love making crafts with my students and this is one that they enjoy before the Halloween holiday.  It allows them to show what they learned through the numbers to 100 unit and keeps them actively engaged to represent a number in 8 different ways.

I used the number 35 and I wrote it on the body of the spider.  Then I took each leg (8 total) and showed a different way to make 35.  1. ten frames 2. word 3. rods and ones 4. addition number sentence 5. number line 6. subtraction number sentence 7. picture 8. tally marks
